Hi Cindy, I have been on vacation, and just saw your post. I notice your BRADBERRY line includes GILMORE. I show a Sallie GILLMORE, d/o Wm GILMORE and Mary Jane VILOTT living with a Bradbury family in 1885 KS state census in Elkhorn Twp, Lincoln Ctr, Lincoln Co. They were: E Bradbury 79 H.E. 40 Elma 27 and children - August, Eunice, Mary and Edward. Sallie Gilmore was the last in the household at 21 yrs old then.. Our GILMOREs were from NY > PA > IN > KS Does any of this sound familiar? Where are your GILMOREs and BRADBERRYs? Thanks for any help, Laura Gilmore Nampa Idaho
Hi Debbie You seem to have quite a lot of information on the Gilmore line. would you happen to know anything about Addison Gilmore(1834-1920) of Howard Co. MO? or his brother Walter M Gilmore if IL. Also I believe Addison had a nephew, Smith Gilmore, who lived in Boonville, MO but I don't have any info on him. no, sorry, but he has my middle name ! strange, huh?
Peter, In regard to Gilmores from County Galway. I know that my grandfather Patrick was born in Dunmore, County Galway. I believe his parents were John Gilmore and Julia Ganley Gilmore. He had brothers Tom and Ed and a sister Mary. I have visited descendants of his sister Mary in Ireland. One of them lives on the farm where Patrick was born; the remains of the old house is still there. We haven't done enough research to know how long the Gilmores were there or where they may have come from. My grandfather was born about 1858. Most of my genealogical research has been on my Father's side (Byrne), but I am anxious to do more on the Gilmores. While I have been in regular contact with the Gilmore relatives, we haven't dug too deeply. I now have an e-mail contact with their family, so that may help speed things along. My Gilmore line here in the states is quite limited. My grandfather married twice and had 3 sons in his first marriage (wife died very young) and 3 daughters in the second marriage. My mother was the only daughter to have children; one of his sons had onely one child... a son. All I know about him is that his mother's maiden name was Smith. That is the line I would be interested in tracking down. Hope I haven't gone on too long with this, or that it was not appropriate for the entire list. (All of these e-mail lists are different, some more tolerant than others. Anyway, I hope I haven't offended anyone. Pat (in MN)
Hi Patsy I wondered if you had any information about Addison Young Gilmore or his son Oscar Davis Gilmore, both lived and died in Howard County, Missouri Linda PDumpling@aol.com wrote: > Hi MaryKay > > I cant find a match on your Green Berry Davison and Mary Elizabeth Gilmore. > Can you give any more information on them so I can match them to my Gilmore > line. Hi MaryKay I cant find a match on your Green Berry Davison and Mary Elizabeth Gilmore. Can you give any more information on them so I can match them to my Gilmore line. I have a lot of info on this line. Patsy Gilmore Kansas City, Mo
Hello All, Have been very interested in all the Gilmore info-------is anyone researching Gilmores in NC or SC? Searching for: Sarah Gilmore b. Jan 18, 1785----SC/NC? d. 1831 Lincoln Co., TN. mar. John Caldwell Pinkerton ca. 1801 --they lived in Camden Dist. SC.---Spartanburg Dist. Sc --York Co.---seemed to be neighbors & affiliated with the Swan, Sloan, Clark, families & the ARP Church. [Scotch/Irish heritage] Any help would be appreiated. Thank you, Mary Wallace
Pat, I'm afraid I have absolutely nothing to contribute to your search, but I write because your message is the first time I have seen a reference to Gilmores coming from County Galway and I was wondering what further information you might have about the Irish origins of your family. (There is a Gilmore clan native to County Down in the northeast; probably most of the Gilmores who came to North America came from the north of Ireland but were of Scottish background.) Hope you don't mind the inquiry; I have a general fascination with transAtlantic Gilmore origins. Pat, Sorry, doesn't sound like a match. My great grandfather, Henry, was born in NY in 1822. We have nothing more than a name for his father which was Kelsey - some family members say it was Kelso instead of Kelsey. Henry was in Illinois between 1850 and 1860 (he supposedly owned a boot and shoe factory while in Galena) and then moved to Richfield, MN that time. He owned a flour mill in Minneapolis until sometime in the 1870s and then moved to Langdon, Washington County, MN. At some point after 1880, Henry and his wife moved to St. Paul Park, Washington County, MN. Linda
My grandfather, Patrick Gilmore, came to Minnesota in 1876 from Ireland; he was about 18 years old at the time. (He is the father of the Ed that I was inquiring about) When Patrick came here, he had an Uncle Edward who was living in the Farmington/ Lakeville area. I don't know if the Uncle had been anywhere else in the states or not before he came to Dakota County; I also do not know if the Uncle ever had any children or brothers. My Grandfather (and his uncle) were both originally from County Galway, Ireland. Anything sound familiar? Pat
How early did these Gilmores come to MN? As a young man, James S. Gilmore left Indiana and traveled to Hastings MN c 1856. I've been wondering if he came to visit a relative.
