I am sorry, I don't think this is the same family because The John I was looking for was probably born circa 1760, so the ones you have are almost 100 years later. But good luck in your search! -----Original Message----- From: Bethylou14@aol.com <Bethylou14@aol.com> To: GILMORE-L@rootsweb.com <GILMORE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, January 20, 1999 10:22 PM Subject: Re: Gilmore Genealogy >i dont no his brother or sister he married sarah sanders he had a son name >john and james john and sarah married 1867 >john gann >
Dear John, I am sorry but so far all I know about John Gilmore is that , that was the name of Mathew's brother. I know that he must have been alive in 1822 because according to court records that is when George Davidson made oath that he was one of the heirs of "margaret Conn of Delaware". I have quite a bit of info on Mathew,Elizabeth and Jane Gilmore and their families. I have been a little stumped when it comes to John,James and William because there were so many gilmores with that same 1st name in the same time frame!!! Do you think your John Gilmore had a brother named Matthew? Did he ever migrate to Blount County and then Dickson county areas of Tennessee and then on to alabama and missippi? I know that many in this family did. I am sorry that I don't have more info on him!!!! Hi Everyone, Rootsweb and GenConnect have afforded us the opportunity for creating Surname Boards for some of the families most dearest to us! GILMORE being one of mine <G>, I have just activated a GILMORE Surname Board for our GILMORE families! This new GenConnect Board is as follows: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Gilmore Perhaps in the future we can start a board for Wills, biographies, Bible pages, etc. If you are a member of Rootsweb, you are eligible to start a board. They only allow two boards per member, so I can't start another board without upgrading my membership to a more expensive one. Have fun. I'm sure there won't be much on it at first, but "post away" and maybe someone will see your message. Warm regards, Sharon Fort Worth, Texas clarksha@swbell.net
my g-grand father was john gilmore he live in roane co could you tell me more about you john gilmore john gann
Hi Gilmore cousins, if any of you are connected to Ephraim Gilmore in Warren Co. IL, when he married Julian Deniston, in Nov. 4, 1834, I have a copy of the marriage certificate. I don't know any more about them, just the copy and will share with you. barb
Hello! I am researching the following Gilmore family.I will be happy to share any info that I have and would love to recieve any info anyone else has on them!!! Mathew Gilmore DOB circa 1769. married Margaret Logan in Blount County Tn. Then moved to Dickson County Tn. until circa 1840 then possably migrated to alabama, mississippi &/OR texas.(this is where I'm stuck) I have extensive info. on Mathew's children thru the present and will be happy to share! Elizabeth Gilmore-Mathew's sister. DOB 1766. married George Davidson in 1784 in York SC.They also followed the same migration pattern as Mathew above. They had 2 children George Jr. and Jane who married Richardson Clark. Jane Gilmore--Mathew's sister. married James McCrory moved thru Tn. to ala. where James is buried. Mary Gilmore---Mathew's sister married Alex Scott. William Gilmore--Mathew's brother John Gilmore---- Mathew's brother James Gilmore--Mathew's brother Margaret Conn--Noted in Dickson County Court House records dated 7-1-1822 that George Davidson made oath that she left the legal heirs (named Mathew & siblings above) I don't know how she is related to them. This is as far back on the gilmores as I have been able to proceed!! If anyone happens to have any info as to who their parents were, etc.. I would be most appriciative to recieve it!!!! I will also be happy to forward any info I have.
Cynthia , Do you have any info. on Elizabeth Gilmore. I have a Elizabeth married to a W.M. Fuller with a son John J. Fuller born Alabama 1863 might there be a connection? If I have already ask you this, sorry . Ann
I am researching Gilmores of Alabama, Georgia and SC. My great great grandmother was Mary Gilmore, m. to Charles Cogdell (Cogdale), 12-17-1818 NC - 12-25-1901. They were found in the 1870 Pike Co. AL census and had 12 children. (If you would like this information, please ask.) Mary's parents were William Gilmore and Matilda. I have found evidence that Matilda's maiden name was probably PASEY, though some may say POSEY, however I have dome some handwriting analisys and have found other PASEYs living nearby, so I am pretty sure it is PASEY. Mary was b.2-18-1827 AL - d.4-10-1910 AL. William Gilmore was b.1805 GA, and Matilda was b.1808 SC, according to the 1850 AL census. An elderly woman, Martha Pasey (Posey), b. c.1776 in SC was living with them at the time, and was most probably Matilda's mother. They were living in Bullock Co. AL by the 1870 census. William Gilmore and Matilda had 8 other cildren besides Mary; William, Elizabthe, Eliza, James, Sarah, Joseph, Frances, Jasper. Is anyone researching this line or possibly the siblings of Mary, or other Gilmores from these areas. I would like to hear from you. Linda Malloy, (Sorry to reply through the whole list, but I didn't get Linda's email address.) I don't have any information on GILMOREs in the Midwest, at least not yet. If I come across any, I will definately post them here. Debbie Bailey bailey.family@cwix.com
I have the following that could possibly tie in to your group: G. W. Gilmore married Margaret Coppock 1859 in Calhoun Cty AL 1860 Calhoun Ct. Census G. W. age 35 bn. SC Margaret age 22 bn AL Elizabeth age 11 bn SC William age 10 bn SC Mary age 8 bn SC L___ age 6 bn AL Jasper age 2 bn AL It is believed that the children (or at least all but Jasper) were from first marriage of GW due to ages and the fact we know Margaret was born in AL. Does this fit into anything you have?
