    2. I'm not sure if this thought would apply to the MO folks but a lot of people inherited land from the Revolutionary service. Some of them never went west to claim it and in later years sometimes their children would migrate to it. I don't know what kind of time-frame or if any was involved. Doris

    2. I have just found some information that troubles me. My John Isaacs had land in Howard Co. MO. that he gave to his son David around 1818. From what I can find, my John Isaac never lived in Howard Co. He must have had this land bought by someone else in his name. NOW! Could my JOHN GILMORE who had land in 1807 in St. Louis Co. have done the same thing? Does anyone know about this early land records in MO? If my John Gilmore was not in MO that early, then he might have still been in Adair Co. KY. Hope you are confused, I am!! Wilma

    3. Hi Elna, I'd love to hear more about your Gilmore relatives, could we possibly exchange information? I've been trying to find information on my ggg-grandfather, Addison Gilmore, born in Kentucky 1834 (county unknown) and he shows up in Howard County, MO in the 1870 census. By then he is married and has 8 of his 17 Children, all of them born in MO. I've been unable to trace him back to Kentucky and am unsure of the relationship between him and other MO Gilmores. Maybe we can help each other. Thanks Linda Malloy lmalloy@primary.net Chris & Elna Cox wrote: > My first and last Mo Gilmore is Samuel Wilson Gilmore. 3. My first and last Mo Gilmore is Samuel Wilson Gilmore. He came to Mo with his 8 children and the oldest one - Washington Richmond Gilmore, my gggrandfather returned to KY. Family lore has it that Washington Richmond was scared and that's why he returned. He died soon after returning to Ky, just 3 months before my ggrandmother, Lucinda, was born. We believe Samuel's wife, Rozina, came to Mo with him although she is not on the 1870 census and by the 1880 census Samuel has a new wife. I found where Samuel is buried in Bates Co. Mo, but neither wife is next to him. His son Elisha is on one side and Elisha Adair is on the other side. I believe Elisha Adair is Rozina's brother. Elna Cox coxfam5@swbell.net

    2. Looking for descendents of Robert and Joseph Gilmore who were from VA. These men went to Boone Co KY in the late 1700's. James Gilmore a son of Robert moved to Rush Co IN in the 1820's. Robert went with him and was to have died there. In about 1836 James moves on to Des Moines and Henry counties of Iowa. He dies there in 1865. He had sons Robert, Beverly, Milton and Joseph. Daughters Elizabeth Ann and Mary. I do not know what happened to Joseph. I lose him after the probate of his father's estate in 1865. Robert becomes a doctor and stays in IA, along with his brother Milton. Elizabeth Ann marries, a Tyner and Mary, a Clymer. Beverly goes on the Oregon Trail to Linn Co OR. He moves then to Marion Co OR and then by 1872 to Clatsop Co OR. By 1880 he is in Klickitat Co WA living with his son James L. Gilmore and daughter in-law Isabella Crofton. Beverly dies in Klickitat Co WA in the mid-1890's. The only Gilmores I have been able to track is the line of Beverly. He is my 3 great- grandfather. I even lose some of his children. Please help find the lost cousins. Kathy Garcia Killeen, TX

And, to all the other Gilmore relatives out there, happy hunting. Barb, if you have a copy of the 1860 Polk Co, MO census (you should) that's the first info I can find on where our ancestors in MO. 3. As long as we have a mutual admiration going here, the Gilmore line just happens to be my favorite. All of the cousins that have helped me, are the greatest! My Matilda Gilmore Smith Kennedy born in 1841, Warren Co KY moved with her family to MO in 1857, the exact county I am not sure of. She was married in Polk Co. and later lived in Cedar Co. after her first husband died. I am in contact with Pat, of CA that is from my great grandmother's brother Patrick Gilmore's line. She is the closest cousin that I have found on the net and a great lady. My thanks to all of you folks that have helped me, especially Sharon Clark our listmistress... barb

    3. Hi Wilma, Not a long shot at all. My Grandfather Oscar Davis Gilmore lived his entire life in Howard County, MO And his father Addison Young Gilmore was there in 1870 with his wife Elizabeth Trent and 9 of their 17 children. I dont see any Gilmores in the 1860 census for Howard Co. but I did find another Addison Gilmore living in nearby Morgan county in the 1850 census and found where he purchased land in morgan county as early as 1841. I haven't been able to prove that he is my Addison's father but it certainly seems possible. Maybe we can tie your John in also. 1. GILMORES IN MO.
    2. If all of us could post our first known Gilmore line that we know of that come to MO, and what county found in, maybe we could tie some of these families in together. My line is : John Gilmore(thought to be of Indian blood) married Mary Isaacs in Adair co. KY-1802-(a few months after Adair was taken from Green co.) John Gilmore was trying to sell land in 1807 in MO. (land record was ST. Louis Co.) Mary Isaacs's brother David Isaacs recieved a letter from father John Isaacs of Washington Co. KY to be administrator of his land in Howard Co. MO. David's father John Isaacs died in Washington Co. KY in 1827. David lived in Howard Co. MO on this land, and his sisters were there in Howard too. I have this John Gilmore on the 1830 and 1840 census of Cole co. MO. Also in Cole Co. MO. are his sons, Wilburn, John, and maybe a George.(not sure of old George.) Wilburn and John moved to Texas Co. MO. around 1848 with the James McKinney family. Census records of these Gilmores in Texas Co. Wilma McKinney

    2. I know this is a long shot in the dark, but need some information on families in Howard Co. MO. As you know, I have a JOHN GILMORE married MARY ISAACS in 1802 in Adair co. KY. JOHN GILMORE moved to MO around 1807. He was living in Cole co. in 1830 census. I have now found information that his wife MARY ISAACS had family, brother David Isaacs living in HOWARD CO. MO. in 1830. She also had married sisters living in Howard. What I need to know is, do any of you GILMORE hunters have a Gilmore in Howard co. MO? They might tie into my John Gilmore. Thanks you for reading this letter. Wilma

There was a time when I got "fed up" with all the tons of list mail dumped onto my computer that did not apply to me. However, I understand the value of people responding to the list because, as someone said, "how else are we to get otherwise important information if there are only questions on the list?" I came to a solution that has solved my problem and kept me from complaining like Snorfok@aol.com has. I know that Snorfok@aol.com has "reached the end of his/her rope" and is acting purely out of frustration, not meanness. So, rather than start a war by "yelling" insults back, I would like to offer this suggestion to Snorfok@aol.com and anyone else that has this problem. It is very simple. Step 1: unsubscribe to the list GILMORE-L-request@rootsweb.com by typing UNSUBSCRIBE in the BODY of the message. Step 2: re-subscribe to GILMORE-D-request@rootsweb.com by typing SUBSCRIBE in the BODY of the message. This will discontinue every individual list message from downloading onto your computer and then will start sending the list to you as a DIGEST. A digest bundles all of the list messages in to one neat little downloaded package which you can easily sort through. So instead of twenty individual message downloads, you get one list DIGEST download. This has made my life so much easier (email wise). I have done this to all of my lists that I subscribe to, so now I get 10 DIGESTS instead of 100+ list messages. I hope this ends the war before it starts and helps everyone about to "spin into a tizzy" over too much irrelevant email (and even for those who aren't). Sincerely, Cindy Kirkland -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Researching these Genealogy lines: Sims (line 1)..... 3. > Ruth, I am very interested in the Gilmore's from Washington Co GA. > However, I have been unable to find out very much about them. My Jane Gilmore also came from Washington County, Georgia. I believe she is the daughter of Humphry and Catherine (Wiley) Gilmore, but have no proof except they all lived in Wash. Co. she is the right age to be their Jane. And there is no other info on her (such as a marriage) in the Gilmore Bible records, (those posted to the list a few weeks ago by JoAnn). Jane was born 1774 NC, married William Wicker (1760-1852) about 1791, He lived in Wash. Co. for 17 years, and they later moved to Wilkinson Co. GA, then to Pike/Barbour Co's AL where they both died in 1850-52..... Any info posted on the Washington Co. GA. Gilmores, please include me also. 3. Ruth, I am very interested in the Gilmore's from Washington Co GA. However, I have been unable to find out very much about them. My gg grandmother, Sarah Jane Gilmore was born in Washington Co GA in 1816. She married Emanual Ritch. She died in 1891 in Muscogee Co GA. She and her husband and 9 of their 10 known children are all buried in the Ritch Cemetery on the Ft Benning Reservation in Muscogee Co GA. Sarah Jane Gilmore had a maiden sister named Clara, I believe. I have no idea who her parents or who her siblings were. She named one son, Edward Gilmore Ritch. Previously, I posted the names and particulars of all those buried in the Ritch Cemetery. I hope you are someone can help me out with this or that we can compare notes. Franklin Ingram
