    1. [GILLESPIE-L] Ann Gillespie, b. 1800, SC>MS
    2. Amy Garber
    3. I'm looking for the parents and additional siblings of Ann Gillespie, born 1800 in SC. I don't known where in SC as my birth place information comes from the 1850 census of Yalobusha Co., MS. She married John Conner (middle initial likely "G"), most likely in SC, where all their children were born. The family moved from SC to MS sometime between 1842 and 1850. Children include: James R., b. abt 1829 Benjamin, b. abt 1831 John, b. abt 1833 Lucresha (Loucretia), b. abt 1837 Frederick, b. abt 1840 Catherine Charity, b. about 1842 Ann Gillespie Conner had a brother C. Gillespie who resided in Hernando Desoto Co., MS in the 1860s and 1870s and possibly earlier. This information comes from letters we have written by C. Gillespie to Ann Gillespie Conner. C. Gillespie had five sons, all of whom had died by 1875. The last to die was William, who died in June 1875. I don't have names for any of the others. C. Gillespie also had two daughters. Margaret P. Gillespie married Michael Quinland in Pontotoc Co., MS, 1 Jan 1850. Margaret died November 1875. The other daughter Harriette Gillespie married James H. Baker, 1872 in Desoto Co., MS. A John Cornelius Gillespie appears to be a close relative of Ann and C., but is not C.'s son. Possibly a nephew. John Cornelius Gillespie married Mary Frances Mackey in 1872. She died and he married her sister Sarah Alice Mackey in 1879. The Mackeys were from Yalobusha Co., MS. John C. Gillespie & family resided in Desoto Co., MS. There are a few other people alluded to in C. Gillespie's letters, but their names are not given in full and it is likely though not certain that they are family. If anyone recognizes my Gillespies I would like to hear from you. AEG [email protected]
