Hello everyone! There are a few of us here now. Maybe some more will subscribe after this list is advertised in Rootsweb Review next Wednesday. If you have any marriage records for Gillespie, wills, probates, etc, please post them to the list. And tell us about your families! I am descended from Thomas and Naomi (Thompson) Gillespie of Rowan County, North Carolina, through their son Isaac who married Mary Ann McGuire. Isaac's daughter Lydia Gillespie married James Durham in Sumner County Tennessee.. Their oldest daughter, Polly Ann, married James David Graves about 1838.. The Graves family is one of my dead ends in Sumner and ALlen Co Kentucky, along with Absher and Travelstead. But that is another story. Polly lost her husband at a fairly young age, and she was an invalid most of her life. She died at Texola, Oklahoma Territory in 1907, in what is now Beckham County. Her oldest son, James Carroll Graves, married Rebecca Elmine Travelstead in Saline County Illinois after the Civil War. Rebecca died in Beckham County OK in 1929 and James died in 1932. Their daughter Lydia Agnes Graves married Bob Bassett and they were my great grandparents.
