    3. When I posted the pension application for David Gillespie, note that he mentioned Alexander McCorkle as knowing that David served in the Rev. War. In trying to find out about McCorkle, I found the following misc. info from a researcher. I'm pretty sure the Alexander we are speaking of is the one that lived 1782-1825. Notice that his father was Samuel Eusebius McCorkle that was called to preach at Thyatira. Samuel married Margaret Elizabeth Gillespie. Coincidence? I'd love to hear comments. Does anyone know who Margaret Elizabeth belonged too? Louis W. FROM VIKING GLORY. 423 pages; NOTE: p 225, In 1756 Samuel E. McCorkle moved from Lancaster Co., PA to NC. They settled on lands of Earl of Granville. He attended Crowfield Academy (near site of Davidson College). He graduated from Princeton in 1772; licensed Oct.10, 1773 by New York Presbytery; ordained Aug. 2, 1777. He spent two years in Virginia, then accepted a call to Thyatira Church, NC. He married Margaret Gillespie who died in 1823. MARRIAGE: Margaret Elizabeth Gillespie married Rev. Samuel McCorkle, a noted minister in the Presbyterian Church in NC. NOTE: George Gillespie sold land in PA to a James McCorkle. LAND: Washington Co, PA; Vol 1 J; p 400; Deed dated 14 March 1792; Deed recorded 27 June 1792; George GILLESPIE and his wife, Jean, of Washington Co, PA to James McCorkle. NOTE: For the sum of Four hundred pounds, convey a certain tract of land, and now in possession of said George Gillespie; situate and being on the waters of Chartiers Creek in the county aforesaid, bounded as follows: beginning at a hickory, thence by lands of William McComb...and then by lands of John Kerr ...
