I recall my dad telling me many years ago that our branch of the Gillespies derives from 4 brothers who came to America by way of Ireland sometime in the 1600's or 1700's. Does that ring a bell with anyone? Where they went once they got here is a mystery, except that by 1822 when my great-grandfather Samuel Wilson Gillespie was born, his family was living in Ross County, Ohio. Carol Gillespie Ready
