Billie Thanks so much for the info. Samuel Huston Gillespie must be my grandfather. It all fits together as far as I can tell. The story that I have is that Samuel immigrated to Texas but went to Illinois to be with his dying brother and my grandfather, Lantie (this may be a nickname) was born there. They eventually made it back to Texas where they died in the eary 1900s. If you have any further info on Samuel I would really appreciate it.
