Perhaps Christian Gillespie was also known as David, or, perhaps this David was his brother. Christian Gillespie died between 1860 and 1870, suddenly, and my GG grandmother Sarah Elizabeth and her brother Timothy were raised without a father. Sarah's mother sent Timothy to a work farm somewhere in the mid-west because she could not afford to take care of the children on her own without labor skills, and she took Sarah Elizabeth (Sadie) to live with her at a convent, where the mother scrubbed floors and did laundry and cooked for the nuns. I've not heard of my Sarah Elizabeth Gillespie's father ever being known as David, but I will look further into the name David Gillespie. If I find anything, I will let you know. You may also find something when digging around on information for a Christian Gillespie. It is possible that, during that time-frame (1860-1870) that these two men were killed in Civil War Battles, so that could lead u! s to either a connection of the two, or at least a known reason for death. I have a few pictures of Sarah Elizabeth Gillespie in her later years. My mother remembers her from when she was a child. Let's stay in touch. Lynell Kirk Nelson AGenFool@aol.com
