Notes for STAWELL WEBB GILLESPIE: He married at the age of 40 and had 2 sons and 1 daughter. Franklin says "He was early apprenticed to a druggist and worked hard. Mental energy good, but sporadic and uncertain. He has begun life 20 times with sanguine hopes only to fail. Quick tempered, over sanguine, not able to weigh difficulties, with very considerable energy. A flighty, shallow minded, inconsiderate man but a good arithmatician.
