I helped a friend research this line many years back, and it has stuck in my head as it proved an elusive one. I just checked the 1860 census for Lawrence Co. (Washinton Twp., p. 268), and found: William G. Gillespie, age 42, stone mason, b. Oh. Mary Ann Gillespie, age 36, b. Oh. Susan Gillespie, age 16, b. Oh. Sharlotte Gillespie, age 10, b. Oh. Besheba Gillespie, age 8, b. Va. Margaret Gillespie, age 6, b. Va. William Gillespie, age 4, b. Va. Mary Gillespie, age 1, b. Oh. Just from memory, I believe that William died befor 1870 and Mary Ann ended up married to a much older man named Cutwright. There was some irregularity with the eldest daughter or eldest two daughters, presumedly they were by an earlier marriage or illegitimate. My friend is a descendant of the youngest daughter. Now that I have it online with Ancestry, I think I will give it another go.
