    3. Eve, My great grandfather was Robert Monroe Gillespie, b. Sep. 8, 1844 in Kaufman, TN per his death certificate. I have been unable to find either a county or a town called Kaufman in TN. While I have no way of knowing whether your Thomas Monroe Gillespie and my Robert Monroe Gillespie are related, it is interesting to note that both had the same middle name and were also from TN. According to research notes dating from the 1950s (which differ from recently discovered bible records) and given to me by a cousin, my gg grandfather was John H. Gillespie, b. March 17, 1813 who m. Sallie E.?, also b. 1813. Listed in these notes are the following children; Mary E. Gillespie, b. 1832 James W. Gillespie, b. 1836 John D. Gillesie, b. 1838 William J. Gillespie, b. 1838 Clarkie E. Gillespie, b. 1840 Charles E. Gillespie, b. 1840 Ruth H. Gillespie, b. 1840 Cynthia J. Gillespie, b. 1842 Robert Monroe Gillespie, b. Sep. 8, 1844, Kaufman, TN, d. Oct. 28, 1929 in Water Valley, TX who married Elizabeth Lillian Cunningham, b. Mar. 23, 1858, d. June 19, 1930 in Fort Worth, TX. At first, I believed that my cousin's wife (now deceased) combined families as two of the children are born in 1838 and three are born in 1840 per her notes. However, Robert Monroe Gillespie's family bible dated 1882 reflects slightly different middle initials and corrected birth dates. I have only recently had the opportunity to examine the bible and have not yet finished deciphering the old handwriting or would post here. If you think we might have a connection, please let me know.
