She was born December 19, 1923 in Sandy, Utah to Clyde Carl Gillespie and Laura Jane Squires. She married her high school sweetheart and friend, William Joseph Mullen, April 8, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 19, 1948. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many ward and stake positions. She also served in the PTA and Scouting organizations. Betty loved being a creative and talented homemaker and enjoyed sharing her talents and crafts with everyone. Many of mom ' s attributes and qualities are instilled in her children. Mom was a connoisseur of fine chocolates. She loved the adventures that came along with traveling, camping, shopping, and spending time with her ei! ght children and many grandchildren. Survived by her husband William "Bill", children: William "Gill" and wife Linda of Las Vegas, Nev.; Linda Dever and husband Charles of Syracuse, Utah; Patricia Wilson, Layton, Utah; Laura Shepherd and husband John, West Valley City, Utah; Craig and wife Deann, West Jordan, Utah; Clyde and wife Colleen, Taylorsville, Utah; Carl, San Diego, Calif.; Julee Shepherd and husband Kenny, Salina, Utah; twenty six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Doris Forbush, Elko, Nev.; Joyce Stout and husband Ken, Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, David Gillespie and wife Alice, Santa Clara, Utah and sister-in-law Jean Powers Mullen, Salt Lake City, Utah. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Sarah Mosley, Uarda Greenwood, Alice Gillespie and brother Burt Gillespie. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 28, 11 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour! prior to services.
