I was wondering if you have come up with any info on your William Gillispies, Jr and Sr? My ancestors were in the OPD area very early---Edward Gillespie, born about 1800 in SC, and his wife Susannah; their son Solomon Newton, born in the OPD area about 1833 and my great grandfather, James Edward Gillespie, born about 1863. Edward has been proposed as the son of Joseph and Courtney Gillespie, as have other Gillespies during that time, but none of these families named any of their children Joseph or Courtney. There are plenty of Williams, Julias, Amandas and Elizabeths. Of course, those were all popular names at that time. Anyway, if you have been able to find descendants of your Gillespies, I would like to hear from you. Ladonna Viertel

My request for information about Ann Gillespie was obviously very confusing as I see that not all of my e-mail message was posted. Several of you contacted me stating confusion. Sorry. I'll try again. I am looking for information about an ancestor, Ann Gillespie who, it seems, was Jacob Gillham's first wife whom he probably married in South Carolina (I had previously thought that Mary Greer was Jacobs first wife but I have been told by a researcher recently that Mary was his second wife). It is said that their daughter Sarah Gillham, my 4g grandmother was born in South Carolina in 1790. After which time the family moved to Lincoln County Tennessee (one researcher says Maury County) where one report says the Jacob became a plantation owner. He is said to have died about 1841. To summarize, I'm looking for an Ann Gillespie, married to Jacob Gillham probably sometime before 1790 in South Carolina but they may have lived for a time in Lincoln or Maury County Tennessee in the early 1800s. As there was a second wife, Mary Greer, I am assuming that Ann died in the early 1800s. Sketchy information but it is all I have. John Brook
Does any one have information on Ann Gillespie and her parents, grandparents, etc. Ann Gillespie is a 4g
