Looking for info on Anna Gillespie found living with William J. Ballew and Mary J. (Gillespie) Ballew on the 1860 census in Boone CO MO. Anna would have been born in 1797. The census gives her place of birth as MO but that is likely an error. There is also a Robert Gillespie and his family living next door. This is my first experience with the Gillespie News List. I hope someone knows of my Jane GILLESPIE or GILLASPIE. I know very little about Jane. She was the second wife of Rene LaFORCE III. Rene was born in Goochland Co. VA in 1754. It is reported that they were married around 1783 in VA. I am aware of the following children: Felix Garrad b around 1783 in VA. Samuel (my direct line) b Orange Co., NC in 1785, William Madison b around 1786 in VA, Jane born 1789 in KY, Gillaspie b 1793 in KY, Eleanor b 1795. There may have been other children of this union. I do not have a death date or place for Jane, but we have a record that Raney La Force m Mary S. Thompson in Fayette Co. KY on October 19, 1826. My direct line left Scotland for Hamilton, Ontario about 1905 and most of that family remains there today. A few have crossed into Alberta and Michigan. Hi ya'll, This is what makes the George Brandons confusing. I have 3 Georges in my files, George b: 1702, George Jr. b: 1736, and George Sr. b: Aug 2, 1770. The 1770 George Sr. is shown in kinship report as "husband of George's granddaughter", the granddaughter being Sidney McGuire (dau of John McGuire, Jr.) and her grandfather being the 1702 George. I have no ancestors or descendants for the 1770 George Sr. He simply pops up from nowhere as the husband of Sidney. It might be that this George Sr. descended down a different line (that I have no info for) from the 1702 George, or perhaps he came from a different line of Brandons altogether (doubtful).....I simply don't know at this point. Are you confused? The more I write this, the more confused I get. I'm listing my Brandons here. It covers 4 generations, starting with John Brandon, Sr. b: 1662 at the top. Gens 1 and 2 come almost entirely from the LDS Ancestral files extracted by me at Salt Lake City in October, 1997.
