Hi Thanks for responding. I am just starting to research the Gifford name. I have the name of my great great grandmother, Margaretta Gifford who was born abt 1835-1840 in PA. Perhaps has cherokee indian heritage??? Do you have any idea if the New York or Maine Giffords have any connection to the Giffords in PA? I heard from one lady who has Gifford connections that were cherokee indians too and knows of a Margaretta. She will send me the info.
