James died in the Civil War in May 08, 1862 He was married to a Elizabeth Savage in Carter Co. Ky in 1852 When he died he left his widow and two children John E. Gifford Born August 13, 1858 Carter Co. Ky and James Gifford Jr..Born abt 1861 Carter Co Ky John E. Gifford married Marinda Messer February 10, 1872 Carter Co. Ky They had the following Children Henry A Gifford Born 1883 Thomas Gifford Born 1879 James M. Gifford Born December 24, 1877 James Jr. married ? in Carter Co. Ky They had the Following children Maggie Gifford born abt 1888---Married Mr Author Robert Gifford born abt. 1890 John Gifford born abt. 1892 Willie Gifford born abt. 1895 This is all the information I have.
