Since my great-grandmother was Rachel ALLISON GIFFORD, it would make sense to think that one of her sons might have named a daughter Rachel to honor his mother, thus making her Rachel GIFFORD. This was done a lot with the Giffords - My grandmother {Mary Ellen GIFFORD b. 1875} named her only daughter Rachel. Perhaps getting a copy of the photo of my grandmother as a young woman as well as a photo of her mother & father might help you "see" if you think this is likely the same family. What do you think?
