Karen, I descend from Robert also. No one is sure who William's first wife was. There is speculation. You may want to see if you can obtain a copy of The New England Historical and Genealogical Register Vol CXXVIII October 1974. There is an article in there on William of Sandwich that I found somewhat helpful. There is a continuing article but havent had a chance to get back to the Kansas Historical Society to get it.
