I am new to this genealogy stuff but have been trying for awhile to trace my mothers ancestry. It has been difficult because most of her ancestors were in Canada and there doesn't seem to be as much information avaiable. My mother's great grandfather was Edwin R. Gifford b.5/7/1826 in Haldiman county Ontario Canada. He married Mary Ann Cooper b. 1827 He was one of 8 children born to John Robert Gifford b. 10/12/1800 in New York state - died in 1872 in Haldiman County Ontario John Robert was married to Rebecaa Mead b. 1804 in Canada John Robert's father was Perry Gifford but I can't find anything else about him yet.
