If anyone recognizes this line of "Gifford", please contact me. My line starts with one of two men. Elisha Gifford (who came to America around the time of the Mayflower) or Walter Gifford (who came to the Massachusetts' Bay Colony around 1630. One of these men had a son named Absolom Gifford, who was born in Connecticut, fought in the American Revolution, and later lived in Herkimer county, NY. Absolom (his wife is unknown) had the following children: 1. Absolom 2. Martha 3. Mary 4. Nehemiah 5. William 6. John 7. Allen 8. Mary Ann 9. Elisha (my descendent, see next entry) 10. Jerimiah Elisha (number 9 above) married Mary Runyan, who was from Germany. They had the following children: 1. Henry (my descendent, see next entry) 2. Whiting 1811 - 1876 3. Martha Henry (number 1 above) 1st wife: Maria Wolfe (unknown if any children), 2nd wife: Mary Vaughn (married her in 1840) Together Henry and Mary Vaughn had the following children: 1. Mary Ann (married Asa Sample) 2. Maria 3. Sarah (married Fleming Carson) 4. Martha (my descendent, see next entry) 5. Henry (married Laura Russell Martha (number 4 above) is the last descendent in my family genealogy with the name Gifford. She was born 9/27/1848 @ Wolfe Settlement, PA.(I have no idea where this is) She died on 6/4/ 1920 @ Liberty, Tioga co., PA. She is supposedly buried in Wellsboro, Tioga co., Pa.
