    3. Is this a Ben Gifford of Dutchess co. NY? I am working on trying to prove his brother Robert who was murdered, has his children raised by his brothers Benjamin and Justus Gifford. I believe ( but have not yet proven ) that my Alexander Gifford is one of those children. This Benjamin's father was also Benjamin, and his mother is Abigail Wing. If this sounds like a possibility, let me know, I will dig up my records Michael Thomas D. 3. Hi all, In researching the Giffords of Erie Co., Pa., we note that an old book in the possession of the descendants of [William Gifford (b. abt. 1756 in NY - d. August 15, 1846 in Erie Co., PA)]. briefly states that there was a adoption of 2 Gifford children that fit somewhere into our Gifford line , by a Benjamin Gifford in NY. I have no more information, but hope this fact may lead to the identity of the Benjamin Gifford and his relationship to the Erie Giffords. Thanks for any help. Best regards, David

I don't run across New Bedford - Giffords , you're the first. My Giffords were in Dartmouth, I am wondering if you have any genealogy on them. I can not go back farther because I am stuck on the names. Hannah S. Gifford b. abt 18 Aug 1822 Dartmouth/Westport m. 3 March 1837 Westport to Humphrey Hitt b. 1816. Dartmouth/Westport. Her father was Harvey Gifford b. abt 1795 (guess) . He could also be James Harvey Gifford. I am not sure. Her mother was Sydia Tibbits b. abt 1795 (guess) . She could also be Lydia Tibits. marriage date was 30 Nov. 1820. I have seen the original marriage certs in Dartmouth. I may be reading her name wrong. It seems there may be two families that may be running with similar names and even the first child's name in the Dartmouth area. On a different note some of the very old names in the Dartmouth / New Bedford area I also have in my genealogy are Wilcox, Mosher, Tripp, Bedon, Maxson, Tabor, Cooke, Warren, Seabury, Pabodie, Garrison. Even the Chaces of that area are related to my Cape Cod Chases. Thank you Rick Arruda Attleboro, MA

    1. [GIFFORD-L] Robert Gifford?
    2. Michael Wagner
    3. Hi All, I am looking for someone who may have information on a Robert Gifford born November 23,1755 and murdered between 1784 and 1790 at Quaker Hill in Pawling New York. Justus, Benjamin, and Elihu are his brothers ( along with one or two others ) and I believe Justus and Benjamin raise their deceased brothers children. Roberts parents are Benjamin and Abigail Wing. Any information on any of these Gifford's would be appreciated. I am a decendant of Alexander Gifford who is the yet unproven son of Robert. There is an obit of Alex's son Alexander which states that he is the Grandson of Robert Gifford. Im looking for something a little bit stronger to connect to Robert. I am certainly willing to exchange information. Any suggestions? Michael
