Hi again all, Ooops - I failed to give you one of the links to the area called the "Nucleus - The hub for Genealogy Groups" on PlanetAll. To communicate with group members on bulletin boards, and to find people in all sorts of genealogy categories you'll want to click on the following link: <A HREF="http://www.PlanetAll.com/main.asp?cid=966275&gid=97159&s=194">http:// www.PlanetAll.com/main.asp?cid=966275&gid=97159&s=194</A> Susan the forgetful :^)
Hi fellow genealogists. It's been a while since I reminded everybody about something I've found helpful in finding people who share my surnames & geographic area of research. I also have found it helps not just keeping up with contact information on people but also in making other geneology contacts. They have bulletin boards & all kinds of groups, including _just_ for genealogists & a special one for Hubbard (& other surname) descendants, people with roots in Northeast OH & lots more. To check it all out click on the following link: <A HREF="http://www.PlanetAll.com/main.asp?cid=966275&gid=63512&s=194">http:// www.PlanetAll.com/main.asp?cid=966275&gid=63512&s=194</A> or if you want more info keep reading. If you've never used PlanetAll.com before you'll need to go through a quick registration so you can participate. It truly only takes a minute and it's free. I've been asked how secure the information is & I do have about 2 years experience with this. I get an outomatic message whenever anyone wants to view my contact information & even then I can specify exactly how much they can see. In my experience it has actually been helpful rather than being a problem & has _really_ helped me through times when my AOL address book had a glitch & later when my system crashed & I lost more data on genealogy contacts I had made. Hope you find this as helpful as I have - Looking forward to seeing you there. And let me know if you find abundant cousins & other folks who share your interests :^) Susan McMackin Reynolds Lewes DE, "the first town in the first state" Researching in Connecticut, Rhode Island & Massachusetts from the 1600s, in New York & Pennsylvania from 1700 & OH Western Reserve families from 1800 to the present

I know that it has been a while since we talked about the picture . I was going to have Ester Zirkle take a look at it and see if she might know something . She's the daughter of Blaine Gifford . Well she is still out of town and today I found out why . If you read in the newspaper about the woman who won the 1000 mile Yukon Quest dog sled race , you were reading about Aily Zirkle . Aily is Esters granddaughter. I suppose if a woman was going to win , she would need a little Gifford fortitude . >From Wm. Gifford of Sandwich, MA Apr. 1976 issue NEHGR p137 Gideon Gifford ( Gideon3, William 2-1) was born 28 Nov 1719 and he died in Dutchess Co., NY after 6 Apr 1789 He married in Plymouth, 14Mar 1742/3 Lois Jackson, probably the daughter of Joseph and Remembrance (Jackson)Jackson. It is possible that if she survived her husband she is the Lois Gifford who married, 17 Sept 1758, Paul Lewis (Sandwich Town Records) By a deed of 5 July 1752, Gideon Gifford, yeoman, John Wing, yeoman, and Hannah, his wife, "all of Batemans Precinct in Dutchess Co., in the Province of NY, which Hannah is one of the heirs of Gideon Gifford, late of Rochester in the County of Plymouth . . . for six Spanish milled dollars, paid by Benjamin Wing of said Rochester, yeoman conveyed "a certain tract of land in sd Rochester, two twelfth parts of a ninety six acre grant of two twelfths part of the 48 acre grant, all of Joseph Doty's share at first, to be taken out of the undivided lands in sd Rochester." This deed was acknowledged in Dutchess Co., 9 May 1753, but not recorded until 19 May 1796! This date of recording may well be the clue to the year of Gidons's death (PLCD, 79:184). Plymouth deeds should be rechecked for more relevant data may be found there. Also a thorough search of Dutchess County deeds and probates is needed. The birth of only one child of this Gideon Gifford is recorded at Rochester. We have been told that he moved first to CT and later to Beekman's Precinct, Dutchess Co., and that he had at lease two unrecorded children. It seems likely that he had more children after leaving Rochester. Children: #110 Joseph, b 17 Mar. 1743/4, "son of Gideon Gifford, Junr. and Loes" (Rochester Vital Records) Mary, mar. Timothy Fuller John #110 Joseph Gifford There is too much to type about Joseph. Email me privately I'll send you my address or better yet if you have access to NEHGR look at Jan 1980 issure page 62 & 3.
Looking for any information on the marriage of Gideon Gifford and Lois Jackson. Would like to know any children of this couple, possible dates of marriage, or deaths and any siblings of either. Thanks for any help.Grace

Greetings to all Gifford descendants, Do all Giffords descend from one and only one William Gifford of Sandwich, MA? If so, please kindly give me the names of his wife and of his children. I am searching for the parents of my ancestor Mary Ann Gifford. She was married to Lt. Henry Calvin Stowell of Hingham, Plymouth Co, MA in 1819. Henry was born in 1797 and Mary was born in 1803. According to the death certificate of their daughter Johanna Gifford Stowell1850 census, her mother Mary Ann Gifford was born in "Mass." I am confused because in the 1850 census for Maryland Mary Ann was listed as from "NJ". Henry and Mary got married in Maryland. Henry died in 1825. Mary married (second) to John A. Richardson. I would be eternally grateful for any additional information or any suggestions or any clues. Is there anybody out there who might be able to tell me who the Isaac Gifford age 72, Susan age 67, and Sarah age 24 are? I found them in the 1860 census of Rensselaer Co., Village of Schaghticoke. Included in this census is my ggg gf, Isaac Tallmadge; the widow of his son, James Simeon Tallmadge, Mary Cornell Gifford Tallmadge and the children who were living with her: Cornelia age 19, Elizabeth age 10, Mary G. age 14 and my g gf Henry J. There are other Giffords in this census namely Jediah & family, Thomas & family who were Mary's brothers. There is also a David and I don't remember him as being in her family. Mary's parents were Ira and Susannah Cornell Gifford. I had thought that maybe Isaac would be an uncle or great grand uncle, but am not finding that name in the William Gifford of Sandwich from the NEHSR. His identification is not crucial but since there was a very definiate family group here I would really like to know who he is. Isaac Gifford and Isaac Tallmadge seemed to be the two wealthiest people in Schaghticoke at that time. Thank you for anything anybody might be able to do.

Hi, I am trying to locate any descendants of John and Anney Hawley GIFFORD, who raised their family in Blountville, Sullivan Co, TN. John died prior to 2 July 1828 as on that date my 4gr-grandfather, Francis Hawley, bought at public sale all goods and stock belonging to the late John Gifford. Francis then conveyed title to the same to John and Anney's two daughters, Sarah and Emily. Their known sons were Lawson, Thomas, John, Joseph and William. Lawson was born in 1811 and William in 1828. I am interested in this family becauseof the connection to my Hawley family and I am trying to help a lady who has a William Gifford b. 1828 in TN. We feel her William and John and Anney's son are the same. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Gary Hawley Hot Springs, Ar
