Hello all, Here is my brick wall, hoping there is someone out there who can help me! Searching for information on Daniel Gifford m. Elizabeth ?? I'm still researching my elusive Giffords! My great grandfather, Alfred Daniel Gifford was born July 27, 1861 in Iowa to Margaret S. Wagoner & her husband. Mr. Gifford was apparently alive until at least Aug 8, 1862, because Alfred's younger brother, Frank Llewellyn Gifford, Sr. was born Feb 4, 1863 in Grass Valley, California. Margaret remarried in 1869 to a Ferdinand Nelson. Mr. Gifford was alleged to have been born in Canada, possibly Nova Scotia. ANY help with my Mr. Gifford would be appreciated! I also have info on Alfred's 4 children, etc. Patty Mulder PMulder749@aol.com http://members.aol.com/pmulder749/wanted/wanted.html Patty's Most Wanted!
It seems we all have a John Gifford that we can't trace. My gggrandfather was John Gifford. He was alledgedly born in Vermont in 1809. According to a Bible record his father (?), who was also alledgedly from Vermont, moved to Canada. His mother's name was Pauline Herrington? Gifford and she is buried here in Akron, Ohio as well as . I have not been able to find any records of them in Bennington Co., Vermont, where they are supposed to be from. The next thing in the Bible record after the statement that John's father moved to Canada, indicates that John shows up in Niagara County, and marries the daughter of Nancy Hewitt and Capt. Mathias Kline, Phebe. Phebe and John had the following children: Charles, Harriett, Rosanna, Horace, Nellie & John Byron. There are a lot of John Giffords out there, and this has been one of them! Hello all! Sorry I have been silent for so long about the results of the poll "to Roll Call or not." I have been very busy with work as well as planning for my upcoming wedding in July. (Sorry, these are the best excuses that I could come up with.) Well, the results were overwhelmingly in favor of doing it. SO..... Here we go. I am officially requesting a "Roll Call" from all of us. If you would please share your ancestors and other relevant information. Maybe we will find out that we are all related after all. Also, I am limiting the time for this roll call to 4 weeks from today. That puts us finishing up around Good Friday - April 21st. I will do another in 3 to 6 months after that, depending on the results of this one. Thanks so much and Happy Hunting! Brick wall; now I've got a REAL brick wall. I am on this list helping a friend who not only does not have Internet access, he doesn't even have a computer (shudder). His family has not been able to determain past Joseph Gifford, b. 1833 in PA. I have been in contact with Mike Gifford and many other GIFFORD reseachers to no avail. Some think that Joseph was part of the New York Gifford clan but have no leads. Here is a recap: Descendants of Joseph Gifford Generation No. 1 1. JOSEPH1 GIFFORD was born April 24, 1833 in Uniontown, PA, and died February 19, 1909 in Merriam, Johnson , KS. He married NANCY SUSAN MAXEY1,2 July 20, 1865 in Johnson County, Kansas, daughter of WILLIAM MAXEY and ELIZABETH JOHNSON. She was born April 09, 1844 in Jasper County, MO, and died December 13, 1926 in Olathe City, Johnson, KA. More About JOSEPH GIFFORD: Census 1: June 21, 1870, Gardner Twp, Johnson, KS Census 2: June 03, 1880, Gardner Twp, Johnson KS Masonic: Kansas Notes for NANCY SUSAN MAXEY: In 1850 Census she is listed as Susanah, 1860 as Nancy S. and 1870 as Susan. In 1910 Census with son George, Olathe, KS In 1920 Census living alone, Olathe, KS Children of JOSEPH GIFFORD and NANCY MAXEY are: i. MARY J2 GIFFORD, b. April 22, 1866, Johnson, KS; d. Notes for CLINTON TERRY: Possible daughters or Granddaughters---Dorothy Terry, Rita Jean Terry. There is also a Jimmy Terry. There is a Clinton Terry in SSDI, b. Oct 8, 1880. This would make him ten years younger than Estella but it is possible it is the correct person. iv. ETHIE E. GIFFORD, b. October 22, 1872, Kansas; d. April 04, 1945; m. CLOYD SENTER, February 09, 1891, Wayne Co., IL. Notes for CLOYD SENTER: There is one Cloyd Senter in the SSDI. Born May 18, 1887, died Nov, 1963. SSA issued in Texas. This MAY be the correct Cloyd, but he would have married a woman 15 years older than himself. v. SARAH ELIZABETH GIFFORD, b. August 31, 1874, Kansas; d. September 08, 1891, Probably Kansas. vi.
