    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: thomasbay95 Surnames: GIBSON/GIPSON/PERKINS/LYONS/SPICER Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.gibson/5752/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm researching the Gibson (Gipson) line out of Magoffin County, KY. I'm particularly interested in whether there is any proven record of Cherokee ancestry. >From what I have gathered so far, the line is: Jerry (Jeremiah) Gibson/Emily Perkins > Harlan(d) Gibson/Sue Craig or Craft(?) > Myrtle (Mertle) Gibson/Burrell Lyons and Jesse Spicer> James W. Spicer/?> James L. Spicer/? I have found a few records on-line: death record for Harlan Gibson, born 1868, age 79 years, 11 months, 1 day, widowed, spouse Sue Craig, father Jerry Gibson, mother, Emily Perkins, Section Foreman, C & O RR, died 1948 in Huntington, Cabell County, WV. Mertal Spicer, born 1894, died 13 Mar 1938, South Side, Mason, WV, father was Arland Gibson (Harlan Gibson?)and mother, Enley Parkins (Emily Perkins). Confusing since Emily Perkins would be her grandmother - her mother being Susan Craig or Craft. Trying to track Harlan's siblings - Roscoe, Nero, George W., Proctor and Myrtle's children by first marriage to Burrell Lyons. Any help confirming connection of Myrtle Gibson (Lyons, Spicer) to Harlan and Susan Craig/Craft Gibson to Jerry (Jeremiah) and Emily (Emma) Perkins Gibson of Magoffin will be appreciated - especially information on Native American heritage. After moving to WV the Gibsons lived in Cabell County and also Cabin Creek, Kanawha County. Thanks.
