Ireland. He joined the Merchant Navy as an Apprentice and then later became a Seaman. In 1851 he became Second Mate and sailed mainly between UK and Australia until 1864. I do not know what happend to him after this date. His father was William Gibson and he had four more Merchant Navy brothers.
