Kay and all, I didn't realize you were part of the John of Cambridge clan! Since I knew you had done research of Deacon John of CT, I thought you were my cousin, but you were probably just weeding out my Gibsons who migrated to NY. Do you have a date/name for "article from Chenango, NY"? Here are some corrections to it: The immigrant ancestor was John Gibson, not James, who I call Deacon John (1691?-1759). He probably came from Scotland in 1722 with his first wife Sarah and they had at least 4 kids 1716-1728. Second wife Mary (Campbell) Alexander m. abt 1731 (after her husband died abt 1729 in NH); had 4 children including Jennet/Janet and John. John was born probably a decade later, say 1736. (Barbour Collection of CT Vital Records, Voluntown 1708-1850; Stowits and Gibson Families; James H Smith, History of Livingston County, New York, 1881, p.446; George M Kasson, Genealogy of a Part of the Kasson Family in the United States and Ireland (Woodbury, CT: Arthur E Knox Printer, 1882) Corrections to History of Avon (Genesee) NY: Mrs FB Pearson (Pierson) is Frances Janette Gibson who m. 1828 Frederick Bushnell Pierson. She's the daughter of Kasson Gibson, granddaughter of John Gibson (not William) and Esther Kasson. John Gibson (b.1736) did have a brother James (b.1726), not sure if he settled in RI but he married Martha Campbell. (Stowits & Gibson Families pp10-13; NEHGR Vol.32 p.276) These two articles refer to same Deacon John family. SO, probably all Delos Gibsons are from this line, and possibly more specifically to the John Gibson/Esther Kasson line. ---Robin Mason Bedford, MA www.wordsworth2.com
