Atlanta, Georgia, October 27 - There is great excitment at Hiawassee, Georgia over the murder of Joseph Gibson, a prominent citizen of that place, who was killed Saturday night. Mr. Gibson left Hiawassee about 8 o'clock Saturday morning and nothing was heard of him until twelve hours later, when his dead body was found about one mile from town, near the home of a man named M. L. Amous, who is suspected of a murder. Amous comes from North Carolina and had been studying for the ministry. Gibson, it seems, saw Amous beating his wife and remonstrated with him at which he became very angry. Amous fled during the night. Gibson's throat was cut from ear to ear. Lynching parties have been formed to hunt for Amous. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
