I feel for you Valentine on your brick wall. I have been searching for a clue to my great great grandmother Kate Gibson. She was born 1822 in scott county Va. It says on the census book that she is a widow, but I cannot find any spouse at all for her. I know she had 3 sons born in Va, 1st John, born 1842, 2nd William born 1845, and Samuel born 1850-2. When the boys were small Kate traveled to Ky, and she started living with a man named Elbe Collins. I don't know if Elbe was still married when Kate was with him, but he was married to a Nancy Gibson, and they divorced. Nancy was also from Va, but I don't know if she and Kate were related or not. Anyway, Kate and Elbe had 5 children together all born in Ky. Kate left Elbe when their youngest child Elvira was a baby. She moved to another county in Ky. Elbe married someone else. I decend from Kate's 1st child John. When Kate's 1st three boys she had in Va, were grown and married with a family, Kate told them who their real fathers were. John's father was a Ramey. Williams father was a Collins,( I believe he belonged to Elbe Collins, ) Samuel died before Kate told him of his real father. He looks a lot like John so its possible he is a Ramey. I don't know where to look now, if only I could find parentsor siblings for Kate it would be a blessing, but so far no luck. If anyone knows anything about this family please contact me.
