    1. Re: [GIBSON] John Gibson, son Daniel, born apx 1843
    2. Gibson
    3. Someone asked me where in Pennsylvania did I search for Daniel Gibson, son of John Gibson... Since I know a lot about Daniel's life, you'd think I'd know more about his father. But the only facts I have is Daniel's death certificate, NARA and census data. Census data makes it very unclear; since Daniel later states in his Civil War Pension file that he was born in PA, but not where. When he lists his occupation as farmer, he states Jefferson or Fayette County. After the war he returns to Connellsville. His first son Charles was born around there in 1865. This family then settles in Fort Madison, Iowa. Charles obit states he was born in Allegheny PA. I have researched the Uniontown library. I have requested many wills from John Gibson's, in various townships. I have found that are more wills of John Gibson's than there are listed in the census. I even found a Daniel Gibson of the wrong age, which would make him enlisting at age 14, not an unheard thing, but this Daniel Gibson stayed in PA, while mine settled in Iowa and Ohio. Some day I'd like to travel PA just looking for any part of this family. I keep some of my research here: http://www.users.qwest.net/~gibsonca/genealogy/DanielGibson.html -cg -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gibson Sent: Sunday, March 11, 2007 10:35 AM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: [GIBSON] John Gibson, son Daniel, born apx 1843 I have been looking for a John Gibson in Pennsylvania, who had a son Daniel Gibson around 1843. John was married to an <unknown> Dougherty. Any help appreciated. --cg Message Board Post: Hi Did you ever see the book about the Gibsons? John Gibson came probably from England in 1623 to Cambridge MA. I bought the book from Higginson Book Co. Salem MA. A, M.C.C. Wilson did all the research and had the book printed in 1899. My email address is [email protected], if I can help you, it would please me. Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
