My Dad Sidney Charles Lambert served in WW1 in the RFA and was wounded in France. He would recite this as a "party piece" which brought tears to everybody's eyes! Unfortunately I didn't learn it properly as a child and he died back in 1964, so I was pleased to see it again, albeit a bit different in places. I have also seen other internet postings for people searching for this poem and have passed it on to the South Bank Poetry Centre who document these kinds of oral history/art. The reference at the bottom of the poem is also of interest to me.....do you have any more info on Pte Gibson? Thank you again.
