Sounds like we just might have a match. My g-uncle Phileat did a lot of traveling. Phileat was the son of Verlin and Ellen Prater Gibson. Phileat died in Philadelphia, PA. in March 1918, but was shipped home for burial. I do have copies of the telegrams Ruth sent to Verlin and Ellen letting them know of his death. In the telegram, she does talk about the son Robert, but doesn't say anything about another child. The older Gibson's in the family seemed to think there was another child. From what I understand, Phileat met Ruth away from here and the family never said where she was from ... if they knew. Ruth never contacted the family after she went back to Philadelphia. Let me know if any of this matches up. I do have some more infomation and pictures of Phileat, one taken in Montana. Thanks! Oh.. my Phileat's full name was Dolphus Phileatus Blunt Gipson (Gibson).
