I found their marriage licence in Jackson County Ar. Hi The information I have, shared by other researchers, is James F. Gibson born Sept 23, 1849 died December 7, 1898 -- son of William Gibson and Mary Buster from Strawberry Twp, Lawrence Co., Arkansas. William was born in Missouri. The 1829 tax list shows a Samuel and William paying taxes in Lawrence County. I don't know of a connection to my Gibson family but in a desperate search for parents or siblings of my William Gibson married 1835 in Scott Co., Va., I have tried to follow all the Gibsons in Scott County. I'm not sure how or if Samuel and William might tie in to the Scott County Gibsons but I know of two other families from Scott County that removed to Strawberry Twp, Lawrence Co., Arkansas and were neighbors of these families. One was the Henry- Nevil Wayland family from Scott County -- think the mother was Kezziah Gibson as the Wayland land in Scott County mentioned land set aside for James Gibson. There is a will for Thomas Gibson in Henry Co., Va., that mentions his daughter Kezziah Gibson and I suspect she is same as Scott County, but no proof. Another family I suspect was from Scott County that went to Strawberry Twp., was the Absolom Goins family. Some of these families left Virginia early and went on to Indiana, Missouri etc. I'm not sure but the oldest I found was Samuel Gibson born abt 1770, wife Precious, died abt 1835 in Strawberry Twp. Benjamin, Hugh, and William Gibson are born 1807-1811 in Missouri and found in Lawrence County 1850 and James Gibson born 1805 in Virginia. I'll try to get my file on these families together and email it but perhaps someone on the list can correct or add to the above. Joanne
