I dug up the following information in 1990/1993 while researching my ancestors "John Gibson and his descendants of Cambridge, MA" some of whom also removed to Chenango Co., NY. Some of the children of John and Alice (Kasson) Gibson ended up in Chenango Co., New York; others in Avon (Genesee) NY. Article from Chenango Co., NY James Gibson, the immigrant ancestor, came from Argyleshire, on the western shore of Scotland to America in 1722 and made his home in Connecticut. With him came his second wife, Agnes (Campbell). By his second wife he had, born in Connecticut: John (mentioned dbelow), and Janet who married John Gordon. John, son of James Gibson, was born in CT about 1725. He lived in Windsor Co., CT. He married Esther, daughter of Adam and Jane (Hall) Kasson; her parents came from Belfast, Ireland, and, according to family tradition, they came in the same ship with James Gibson and other Scoth and Scoth-Irish pioneers. Adam Kasson died in Voluntown, Windham Co., CT Nov 1 1752, aged 71 yrs; and his wife died dthere Mar 31 1767 aged eighty-five years. Children of John and Esther (Kasson) Gibson: 1)Jacob m. ?? Gibson who was superintendent of schools from 1899 - ??. Stanford J. Gibson did a genealogy on this family but I am not sure where it is to be found. ALSO: William Gibson, brother of Chauncey, came in about the same time from Ballston, Saratoga Co., NY, where, being a wheelwright, he was engaged in the manufacture of spinning wheels, an article which was in large demand at that day. He settled on a farm adjoining Chauncey's and carried on the wheelwright business until his death, when his brother, Chauncey, succeeded him, and continued it till his removal to New Berlin (Chenango) NY. William's wife was a sister to Hascall and William Ransford. She died at her brother Hascall's, wity whom she went to live when her husband was taken sick. >From The History of Avon (Genesee) NY William Gibson, grandfather of Mrs. F. B. Pearson (Pierson) settled in Canterbury, CT, married Esther Kasson who was an intimte friend of Mary Howd who beame the wife of Samuel Waterous and the mother of Mrs. Joseph Pearson.
