So, if Elisha's parents moved to Washington Township, Tazewell, then the names of Gibsons who purchased land there about that time from the federal government were: Coleman J Gibson bought land 11/1/1839 David Gibson bought land 11/1/1839 George D Gibson bought land 5/20/1841 George L Gibson bought land 3/20/1837 Margaret C Gibson bought land 11/1/1839 If Elisha's parents bought land from another source, then these records are just another false lead. I found an 1845 marriage record for Coleman J. Gibson in Illinois, so unless that was a second marriage, Coleman would not be the father of Elisha. There was a Samuel C. Gibson who bought several pieces of land in Tazewell County and other Illinois counties in the 1850's but that seems too late in the family history to match. Wouldn't be perfect if the George D. Gibson listed above was Elisha's father? There's just no way to prove a connection, so far. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
