I see you talking about the Gibson family and it makes me so sad. My great great grandmother was Kate Gibson, born 1822 in Scott county virginia. I cannot find any parents or a husband for her. Kate did have 3 sons born in Virginia. 1st John born 1842, 2nd William born 1844, 3rd Samuel born 1852. Now Kate brought these boys to Kentucky when they were small, They grew up with the Gibson name, William and Samuel both married with the Gibson. When Kate got older I believe she diden't want to die with the boys not knowing who their real father was so she told each one except Samuel, he died before she got a chance to tell him.. After that John changed his name to Ramey. William changed his name to Collins. some of Williams children had already married under the Gibson name. When Kate first came to Kentucky she stayed with a man named Elbe Collins and had 5 children by him. he was first married to a Nancy Gibson and had 5 children but divorced her and took Kate, I cannot find proof where they ever got married. I sure would love to know more about her. If anyone has any information on her PLEASE contact me. by the way I decend down through John Ramey her first son.
