> Thanks Jean! I don't usually whine about brick walls - I know everyone else is challenged as well. I think I feel so dispirited about this one because it's the *only* reason I began doing genealogy: to find my birth father's family. Now, after all these years, it's the ONLY thing I haven't been able to find! Because I never met my father I saw this as my one chance to learn something about him but perhaps it isn't meant to be. Additionally, it perplexes me that someone can get "lost" between 1911 and 1920 - it seems so recent in our history. It would go down a little easier if I'd been able to get back at least a couple generations. So now you know the source of my mood and no, I probably won't give up - at least today. No, don't give up.I have been doing research for about 12 years and like you the Gibson family is the only one "I can't find".I have my grandmother Mertie Gibson in Wise Co. Texas, her father James E. Gibson born in Bosque Co, Texas, his father Arthur Bradley Gibson born in Kentucky died in Wise Co. Texas, and his father Andrew Gibson with no information, and that is it. I have had this since 1998. Have gone on with all but Arthur and Andrew. I have gone on with Arthur B. his wife Frances Smithhart and their children, but would really like to find more. I keep saying "someday I will find them". I sure hope so.
