I have definitive and good information on Willie Franklin Gibson. Birth: 25 Feb 1874 Madison, Rockingham, North Carolina, USA Death: 22 Jul 1928 Winston-Salem, Forsyth, North Carolina, USA In 1905 married Lilie Fulton. Had seven children: Joseph (Joe) Nathan Gibson 1907 Poss. Living Gibson 1907 Charlie R Gibson 1908-1979 Dewey Lee Gibson 1911-1997 Pauline Ruth Gibson 1916-1980 Viola Francis Gibson 1918-1980 Poss. Living Gibson 1928 Willie's death certificate does not list a father, but does list a mother, Eliza Gibson. Eliza Gibson, unsourced info tells me, was born 29 Dec 1856, Rockingham, North Carolina, USA Died: 2 Aug 1933 Madison, Rockingham, North Carolina, USA Possible other first names were Mary Anne Elizabeth. Also, Molly Lizetta. The reason I say that is that Willie lived in Pittsylvania county, VA in 1910. On the same page as he is a Molly L Gibson, whose age would give her the correct date of birth, though she claims to be born in VA. She is divorced, and indicates that she had four living children Again, unsourced info tells me that Eliza was one of seven children of Andrew Andy Gibson, born 1822 in Rockingham, NC. Her brothers and sisters supposedly include William T. Gibson, Sarah, Robert Walker, Martin V. Gibson, Andrew Jackson Gibson, and a Mary (possibly). I am aware of the firefighter Howard Gibson. Yes, I *should* be able to find Harry Henry Gibson in the 1900 but I can't. I've viewed the soundex several times and I've tried to examine any and every family into which Harry Henry Gibson might fit. I continue to search for all the spelling combinations for Harry, Henry, and Gibson. Still nothing. The only "clue" I have is remembering, during a one-time meeting with my father's sister when I was a young teenager, in which she said their parents died young. If only I had known to ask for more information! Thanks for taking the time to write; I appreciate hearing from you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Gibson, born Sept 4, 1885 in Kansas City, MO, son of Howard Gibson & Ida Beggs, and spouse named Gladys, who was also the informant. He died May 8, 1956 in Kansas City, his usual residence being Marshfield, Webster Co MO. He was a retired firefighter from the Kansas City Fire Dept. Sometimes names are switched and a peron may go by either name. This may not be your Harry Henry, but thought I would at least let you know of this possibility. Censuses may vary from year to year on birthplaces, depending on who the informant was on that census year, and one also needs to search using soundex, sometimes just the first or midlle names---trying all sorts of ways to search, as well as the actual spelling. You should be able to find him in 1900, possibly in the Kansas City area. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: grizziesgirl Surnames: GIBSON, DILL Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.gibson/5676/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Harry Henry GIBSON b. abt 1885 in Missouri, possibly in Parson Creek/Meadville, Linn County (north central Mo.) appears in the Kansas City, Jackson Co. Mo. 1910 census with his father listed as born in Kentucky and his mother in Tennessee. Who were Harry Henry's parents? I have been searching for nearly ten years without a clue. Harry Henry GIBSON m. Doris DILL abt. 1909 and they had two children: Elsie May b. 1910 and Harry Henry (Jr.) b. 1911 in Kansas City. Harry Henry GIBSON (Sr.) was in the 1910 and 1911 KC Directory but not in subsequent years. In the 1920 census his wife Doris is listed as a widow with the two children. There is no death record, no divorce file, no cemetery location. After these years of searching I can only hope that someone will be able to place Harry Henry GIBSON in a family that moved from Kentucky to Missouri. I also feel the naming pattern must be significant. I did not know my father HHG (Jr.) b. 1911 but I was told he had Native American (Cherokee?) heritage. I would be most appreciative to anyone for their suggestions or assistance in this decade-long search for my paternal line. Thank you for reading this query.
