I don't have proven documentation but just a clue! My best guess is that it was Catherine Gallion who md a Sexton. Are you acquainted with Dave Gibson. He has done much work on this family. I do not remember the Sexton but I sent Dave an e-mail with the name of the Sexton and suggested he might want to look into it. Emmitt Reeves Gibson and Mary Elizabeth Mayfield were my father's grandparents. Mayfield was my father's uncle whom he remembers quite well along with Uncle "Jake" (I think this was Eugene) Wayne, Aunt Winnie, Bennie, and Dulcie. I have heard information regarding Winnie's service during WW11 and found a few newspaper items stating that her last name became Palmer so I have listed this on my tree. I would love to hear about these family members and any corrections that I need to make. Thank you so much Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had seen Grohse notation. I have his 4 reels but haven't read them all yet. I don't recall if he had any firm documentation. He says the father of Solomon Sexton was William Sexton and that Solomon lived to be over 100 years old. I think he is wrong on Solomon's father and the number of years Solomon lived. There is very little out there on Esaw. I have been working on these Gibsons but they are so elusive. Do you have any documentation on Esaw. I don't have any documentation on Susannah's father but I believe it to be the older James Moore who was living next to them on the census. Joel was born in 1780 and that was much too late to be the father of Susannah who was b. about 1790-93 as well as I remember. James Moore Sr's son James Jr. md Nancy Gibson and the fact that James Sr was living next door in Hawkins Co. to Susannah leads me to believe he may have been her father. Joseph Fisher and Susannah did name one son James F. Good to talk with you. Kathy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have researched with some of Joseph Fisher Gibson's descendants. I was sent the following: " According to the Grohse Notes, the father of Joseph Fisher Gibson is Jonathan Gibson, Sr, b. 19 May 1759, VA. I can't make out what county he was born in because Bill Grohse's handwriting is so tiny. Joseph is also the brother to Jonathan Jr and Esau. The parents of Susannah "Sukey" Moore is Joel Moore b. 1780 and Judith Gibson b. 1785 VA. Both died in Scott Co, VA. Joel s/o John Moore b. 1758, Orange Co, NC and Sarah Sally Goodman b. btw 1760-1765, NC., both died in Floyd Co, KY The parents of Solomon Sexton is Elisha Sexton b. 1774, NC and Tabitha, Hope some of this helps because I'm related to all these people." Hi, I have an old picture of an aunt and 3 brothers going to the same school. My aunt and one of her brothers spelled her name Gibson and the 2 spelled it Gipson. I think it was only if they could read and knew how their last name was spelled. Carlyine **************An Excellent Credit Score is 750. See Yours in Just 2 Easy Steps! My Grandfather's name was spell Gipson on the 1910 SC census. But we are Gibson's. Tammy : Hi Martin,, I can't remember exactly which one,,but I did see my Gibson's name spelled as Gipson on a census record,,so that may be how the spelling changed,,the census workers didn't always know how to spell and many time the people didn't have a clue how to spell it either and just spelled them how they sounded,,however I only found it spelled Gipson one time on the census,,however I cannot find them at all after the 1880 census in Jackson Co.Ark,,however I think I did find 'possibly' a couple of the girls on the marriage records in Jackson Co,,some I don't know for sure if they belonged to mine because on most of the census records they just went by initials instead of names and couldn't make out or didn't have whether or not they were male or female,,but one that I do believe that is related to my family married a Donaphon and another married a RP Carter 'I think his name was',,I can't remember the girls names right off hand,,but they were married in the mid to late 1800's I believ! e,,if you get a chance to look at the marriage records on Jackson Co Ark website'which' have great marriage records,,if you would could you look and see if maybe they fit into your family?,,maybe that's why I cannot find them,,maybe they started spelling their name with a "P' instead of 'B',, I appreciate any help you can give me,, Leatha
