I too found some things that I had not seen before. I went to the NC Archives at Raleigh a month or so ago where I found some additional records that Joanne's list does not include. I was going to post these to the group, but it came out way to long ... 6 pages. So if there is anyone out there especially interested in the North &/or South Carolina Gibsons just send me a private email and I will happily send you a word.doc containing these additional records. It also includes Torrence's Virginia Wills and Administrations for Gibsons in certain Virginia county prior to 1740 (the majority of these I haven't seen). Also a few other records that have come my way over the last few months. One thing, which is of particularly interesting to me, is a fuller explanation of a record that Joanne mentions on 24 Apr 1773. If the actual record reads like the reference describes - it proves without a doubt - that there were indeed 3 Gideon Gibson in Craven Co., SC. - one of whom had certainly died prior to 24 Apr 1773 - like I discussed on a research paper I submitted to the Gibson Project DNA Project, see: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/g/gibson/pee_dee.htm Sincerely, Val ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 03, 2006 2:47 PM Subject: [GIBSON] Researching Gibsons > Hi List, > > I've just posted a 'timeline' of the early Gibson family who resided in > and > around Colonial Jamestown if anyone would care to add to it I would be > very > grateful. > _http://www.geocities.com/ourmelungeons/gibsontl.html_ > (http://www.geocities.com/ourmelungeons/gibsontl.html) > snip ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message Lisa McNeese

    3. Hello Craig, Have you written and asked why you did not receive a reply but your cheque was cashed? A telephone call to them would be even better. Perhaps it went astray in the mail as it is easy for someone to write/type an incorrect address and the post office will return it to them for the smallest error. Worth checking out. Just had a similar thing here in Canada, where a Provincial government employee returned an application to my uncle telling him his address was wrong. I should think my Uncle knows his personal address. Upon investigating, I learned that his address was incorrect in the telephone directory but his telephone bill was correctly addressed. This error is the result of someone proofing the telephone directory for publication. They either had the information and overlooked the change in address or didn't get the correction sheet. This internal company error caused the Provincial government employee possibly to return the application because he/she checked the local telephone directory to confirm my uncle's address and there was a variance. It created a lot anxiety for my senior Uncle (85) and a delay in receiving his cheque. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and it is your money. I'm confident the rules are zero payment if they find nothing. What was your understanding when you made the request. Cheers, Margaret in Canada P.S. I am unable to help with your request for Wills. I have Gibson's in my line but not into searching them as yet. Working on my McLean's (Scotland and Ireland).

    3. I am looking for the name of the Gibson woman who was married to Ed Goodman b. 1775 of Newman's Ridge. Grohse's notes has her in one place as Icy and another as Fay or Foy. Also looking for birth and death dates. Thanks, Mary Lyn -----Original Message----- I also have a yahoo list that deals with the "Gibson families in Colonial Virginia who migrated to other states and were called Redbones, Brass Ankles, Melungeons, "Brown People of Magoffin County" - Carmel Indians, etc." It is a closed list but anyone who wants an invitation just email me.
