Thank you Karen for your response, I would like to know more about the two John Gibsons listed. It seems back then they always named their first child after their father or husbands father. I don't believe Kate was ever married. so these two John's could possible some relation to her. I wish they had let their wife and childrens names be in the census in stead of just saying so many females under 12 or males under 20. It sure does make it hard on all of us trying to research. I am at a big brick wall. Thanks again for your help Wilma Wireman [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 20, 2006 5:40 PM Subject: Re: [GIBSON] Kate Gibson > Wilma, > > Do you have Kate and the boys in the census? Wilma, Do you have Kate and the boys in the census? If so, where are they in 1850 and 1860? Checked with the 1820 Scott Co. Do you have any other information? My grandfather was born in Arkansas, but on a u.s. census in 1930, he states that his parents are from Germany. Your ancester with the Orauster name sounds German. Maybe we are connected. Please write to me at: [email protected] George Hebel Gibson is my ancestor and his brother's name was H.C. Blue Gibson. I believe his mother's maiden name was Blue. Odd. But nonetheless, it is so. I can attach a photo of him.. George was born Oct 6, 1901. Your family has dates of 1909, so if we can dig this up, we just might find a fat bone!! Good hunting. First photo is of George and Gertrude, my grandparents. Gertrude Rich was from Louisiana. Second photo is of my dad, me and my sister. Daddy was dark and my sister has his dark hair. I'm the one on the right (from your view) - the blond. My son is in the bottom picture. Football jersey #99. Herbert married Florence (do not know her surname) and eventually ended up living at 17 Earl Haig Place, Wheelers Lane, Birmingham, which was run by the Earl Haig Homes. Uncle Herbert and Aunt Flo had four sons between 1920 and 1928 (Herbert, Leslie, Dennis and Eric). Uncle Herbert's parents were James Thomas Gibson and Elizabeth (nee Clare) of Bishopsgate Street, Five Ways, Islington, Birmingham. I have no further inforamation other than the above and I am hoping that someone will be able to help me as I am trying to trace my family tree and Uncle Herbert is the one person I cannot trace! I did not know my Uncle Herbert as I was born in 1941 - I am the son of his brother Vincent. I hope to trace Uncle Herberts War Record to complete the 4 war records I have for his brothers. Unfortunately I do not know either the Regiment he served in or his regimental number, which is vital for me to obtain copies from Kew. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone who can assist me to find out about the life of my Uncle Herbert and Aunt Flo. I believe Aunt Flo died around 1965 possibly at the above Haig Home address. Thanks in anticipation Ken Gibson

I see you talking about the Gibson family and it makes me so sad. My great great grandmother was Kate Gibson, born 1822 in Scott county virginia. I cannot find any parents or a husband for her. Kate did have 3 sons born in Virginia. 1st John born 1842, 2nd William born 1844, 3rd Samuel born 1852. Now Kate brought these boys to Kentucky when they were small, They grew up with the Gibson name, William and Samuel both married with the Gibson. When Kate got older I believe she diden't want to die with the boys not knowing who their real father was so she told each one except Samuel, he died before she got a chance to tell him.. After that John changed his name to Ramey. William changed his name to Collins. some of Williams children had already married under the Gibson name. When Kate first came to Kentucky she stayed with a man named Elbe Collins and had 5 children by him. he was first married to a Nancy Gibson and had 5 children but divorced her and took Kate, I cannot find proof where they ever got married. I sure would love to know more about her. If anyone has any information on her PLEASE contact me. by the way I decend down through John Ramey her first son.
