Subject: Gibsons - Pennsylvania Are there any Gibsons out there whose roots go back to John Gibson, Robert Gibson and/or Margaret Gibson Ferguson. All three were born in Scotland; they are brothers and sister of my grandmother, Bethea Gibson Smith. My grandparents emigrated in 1882/83 and I suspect the others came about the same time. All settled in the small mining towns in western Pennsylvania. My grandparents moved on to Lonaconing, MD; Margaret and family lived in Monessen, PA; John and Robert lived in--Roscoe and/or Brownsville. One had a son that had a car agency in Brownsville during the 1930s. I know there are still second and third generations of cousins living in the same areas of Pennsylvania, but I can't make a connection--no one seems interested in family history. I would appreciate any help, leads, etc. Agnes Smith Pavelko Ocala, FL [email protected] EarthLink Revolves Around You.
I am interested in knowing more about this John Gibson, who appears in the 1850 census for Limestone, Lycoming, Pennsylvania. Any help appreciated. Craig Gibson

I have a Daniel Gibson, born 1843 in Fayette County, Penn. He and his father were farmers in PA. Daniel's death certificate lists his father as John Gibson, mother <Unknown> Dougherty. Daniel fought in the Civil War, and returned to Dunbar Township for about a year, in 1865-1866. Daniel spent the most time in Iowa. I received several John Gibson wills from around the area, but none of them are the right ones. Daniel moved around enough not to be listed on any census before 1870. Any help appreciated. http://www.users.qwest.net/~gibsonca/genealogy/DanielGibson.html C.A. Gibson

My Uncle Gibson said his grandmother's maiden name was Holt and that he thought she was full blooded Indian. He said he was really afraid of her. His mother was a Hopkins. I don't know which grandmother but they lived around Lake City Arkansas. Any thoughts? He didn't know her first name. This would have been around 1930-1935. I keep trying to link up with my Arkansas clan but so far no luck.
I have a John Fay Gibson b. Aug 1885 but no other info on him; I've been able to trace my Altoona Gibsons to 1751. Do you have any other names or info? My name is Carlyine Gibson Pierce. I have been researching my family for years and can find nothing on my g. uncle Jack Gibson, b. 1863 in Walker Co., Al. His parents are; Thomas King Caid Gibson and Charlotte Cranford. They moved to Winston Co., Al. when Jack was young. He married ?[ can't find the name of his wife] and had children by her. The family story is ; Jack had a midwife to come and tend to his wife for the birth of their last [ so it seems] child. He took the midwife back to catch the train, sold his horse and wagon and left with the midwife. This is the last anyone seems to know about him. I would appreciate any help finding Jack Gibson.
