    3. Hi All; Re Anglicization/Americanization of Germanic names: I can't speak to all cases, but one letter change which repeatedly cropped up during my research on the genealogy of a potter from Strasburg, Virginia was B to P and vice-versa. Thus the names, Burki, Burgi and Burkenbuehl all devolved to Pirkey (also Perkey, Perky, Purkey and Purky); Bentz devolved to Pence, and Pantzer to Bender. Also, in researching my own family, the surname Jaacks was misinterpreted as Gaaks. I'm sure there are many more examples among our membership. Cheers, Masugu
