My MICHAEL/S family is in and around Cambria and Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. The earliest MICHAEL ancestor I know of is Joseph, born 1789, possibly in Maryland; died in 1862 in New Washington, PA. Joseph's parents supposedly came from Germany in the mid-1700s, but I have not been able to verify who they were. I have Joseph and Elinor (WILSON) MICHAEL's children as: Robert who married Emilou TOZER - he died in Topeka, Kansas Hannah, married Robert RAINEY Nancy married Daniel HORN Delila married Robert SMITH Eliza married John FOX David, born 1814, died Feb 14 1892, maried Phebe THURSTON - my great X3 grandparents If anything sounds familiar, please let me know and I will send more informtion. Happy hunting! Dot Michael Dresher, PA
Hi Dorothy and Nancy, MICHAEL (MICHEL) is a rather common name in Germany. So it is not a surprize finding people with this name in their ancestors' lines - like me. My mother's maiden name is Dorothea Hildegard Michael. Our Michael line comes from the Oberlausitz area in Saxonia.
