    3. Hello Everyone! I've been asked to post an intro, so here goes: My name is Elaine and I've been working on my and my husband's family history since 1983. Some of our lines are Irish Canadian, some are French Canadian, one line is from White Russia (now Belarus), some are "American" thru and thru going back to the 1700s, and the rest are German, Prussian and Polish. One German line came to the US in the 1700s...LOUGHMILLER, which eventually became MILLER. I'm also working on MEYERS/MEYER...they immigrated in 1849 from Prussia, but I don't know where. Another surname I'm searching is YHALKEE. On one gravestone it's spelled Ya-Chalke. They also claim to be from Prussia and were in the US by 1856. It's a very unusual name and I would love to be able to determine the area of origin. Then there's my Maleschefsky's who claim to be from Berlin. They were also Catholic. I don't know if that would narrow down the part of Berlin or not. My Grandmother on my mother's side's surname was HINC (pronounced Hintz). She was Polish but when she immigrated in 1903, there was no Poland and I've always been told she came from the "German side of Poland". On the ship's manifest she gives her point of origin as "Wichnlec, Wp." She sailed from Bremen on the S.S. Neckar. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan but 4 yrs ago when my husband retired we moved to near Branson, Missouri. He's not completely retired yet, but recently lost his job. Hopefully he'll find something soon. Ok, I think I've gone on long enough. If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Regards, Elaine O'Neill

    3. Ooops!! I forgot my father's mother's side........Her mother's name was Maria HUEBNER, from "Verbelin, Prussia", and her father's name was August SCHMULT, from "Strebelin, Prussia" according to their marriage record from St. Boniface Catholic Church in Detroit in 1881. They both say they arrived in the US in 1881. I don't know if they met on board ship or lived near each other in the old country. I haven't found their immigration yet either. Maria's brother Adolph immigrated later, but his records that I've found only indicate "Prussia".
