Hi Wolfe, I have a question that others, regardless of the "lists" they are on, might find informative. You stated, "Whenever you are not to sure about not getting msgs., check with the archive: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/GERMANY-PASSENGER-LISTS/ I have assumed that we can go directly to www.rootsweb.com and then scroll down to "Mailing Lists" and going to whatever lists we are looking for and get this information there. Is this correct? I have also assumed that the "Message Boards" are different info. The advantage I see in belonging to the "Lists" is the addtional expertise that would not be easily located by searching the archives. Also the inability to ask and get advice from experts like you. Just thought I would double check my assumption and maybe inform others of the correct answer. By the way, thanks to all the experts, like you. who educate me more and more with every msg. Tricia M.
Hi Tricia, > You stated, "Whenever you are not to sure about not getting > msgs., check with the archive: > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/GERMANY-PASSENGER-LISTS/ > > I have assumed that we can go directly to www.rootsweb.com > and then scroll down to "Mailing Lists" and going to whatever lists we are > looking for and get this information there. Is this correct? Well, yes AND no.. This depends on the list administrator, whether the archive is open to the public or not. If it is NOT open, then only list subcribers are able to visit the archive. But in my opinion, we have nothing to hide and everyone should be able to see what we are doing... > I have also assumed that the "Message Boards" are different info. Yes, the message boards are an entirely different thing.. Our 'saxony' list has a message board and the messages are being 'gate wayed' to the list. However, this is only a 'one way' road, the messages to the board also show up in the mailing lists, but the messages to the list do NOT show up on the message board. This can be quite confusing sometimes, when a message from the board shows up on the list and you just hit the 'reply' button.. The original poster to the board will never get your answer... Our GPL list doesn't have a messageboard and I do not know if it is worthwhile to get one... Any suggestions ??? Does this answer your questions ??
