    2. Thanks for that site, Georg. No problem understanding your English. The maps (1848 I looked at) will take longer - it's hard to read. It shows two sections that are not connected that are called Prussia. My relative could have lived almost anywhere! And since the records from Bremen aren't available, I may never find him. Have you been to Americaf? My grandson started high school this year and he is taking German. I told him to learn it really well and we can go there and he can translate. : - ) Betty yes, the gray is Prussia. Take a look to this side too: http://www.ieg-maps.uni-mainz.de/maps01.htm There are more maps (since 1812). Maybe you understand it better then. Sorry, but my english isnt so good. Georg
