    3. Hi, I found a 1996 article about the company Fries & Fries (note the "&" as opposed to "and") in Cincinnati by googling. It contained a bit of company history: "The four-year-old Tastemaker was formed when Mallinckrodt and Hercules merged their flavor-making operations -- Cincinnati-based Fries & Fries Inc...Fries & Fries -- commonly known as F&F -- was founded locally in 1913 and was acquired by Mallinckrodt in 1971." Another site: "In 1997 Givaudan-Roure acquired Tastemaker based in Cincinnati, Ohio..." I remember it being visible (and smellable!) from I-75 in Cincinnati. A current address for Tastemaker is given as 1199 Edison Dr., Cincinnati, OH 45216, (513) 948-8000 If the company can't help a good place to contact might be the Cincinnati Historical Society. They have many older records from local companies and may have some information on the family tie-ins to the company. Also the Cincinnati Public Library has a large local history collection. Wish I still lived there so I could be of more help. The Hamilton County, Ohio Rootsweb list is very friendly. By the way, for Anglophones, the name of the company was pronounced Freeze and not like (French) fries. Thomas, Kentucky and California, Kentucky are both in Campbell County. He should try subscribing to the Campbell County, Kentucky Rootsweb list. Also keep in mind that Campbell County, Kentucky is on the Ohio River just across from Hamilton County, Ohio where Cincinnati, Ohio is located. A huge number of Germans immigrated to Cincinnati and the surrounding areas from the mid-1800s into the 1900s. There is/was a company in Cincinnati called Fries & Fries that had been there for many, many years. They made flavors for food-- vanilla, raspberry, etc. that you could smell as you went by. I grew up in the area but haven't lived there in over 20 years so I don't know for sure if the company still exists. Googling turns up some possibilities. For whatever it's worth. Hope this helps.
