I should have told you George Sauer came to US about 5 years before Barbara did but he landed in New Orleans with his sister. He was about 9 & his sister about 14. I can't remember the name of his ship but Barbara & her brother, Gustav, was on the Zurich. More later. Shelby Jean Morris <jmuffy@sbcglobal.net> wrote: My name is Shelby Jean Morris. I was born 10/12/1938. My father's grandmother was Barbara Newberger & she came to the US with her brother, Gustav. They arrived July 2, 1857 in New York. I cannot find him at all. I find her 5 years later in Indiana; Clark County in Jeffersonville. She is marrying a man, I think, she knew from Germany. His name is George Sauer & according to the US Census that I have looked at, they came from the same area. I believe it is Baden. Some people say it is Baden Baden. On some census, it says Biern or Bayern. I am very glad to be on this list. I hope someone can help me find relatives of my family from over there. My father, who is the grandson of George & Barbara, taught me to like Germany food & beer. I love the light German beer. Thanks for asking. I hope I get help in my search.
