    3. Hello listers.. My GGrandfather, Arjen RUSSMANN, emigrated from Dornum,Hannover, in 1870,according to 2 US census'. He was naturaliazed in 1879 in the Circuit Court of Chicago, IL as a Minor..(he was born in 1858 so was 21 in 1879..either his father died prior to that time or he never became a citizen). His parents,Hermann and Sophia RUSSMANN were born in Germany.,,don't know where. I believe Arjen had a brother Haro/Hero RUSSMANN who is listerd on the 1880 Chicago census living with wife Alwina one block from where Arjen lived in 19and was naturalized in either 1892 or 1872..probbly 1872..believe transcription was a misprint.have sent for his naturalization records. lived in the same neighborhood as Arjen and his family in Chicago and was born in 1850. Haro was married to Alwina. Herman and Sophia are buried in Chicago in the RUSSMANN family plot. I have no information on Arjen prior to his naturalization in 1879 and marriage in 1883 in Chicago to Katharina FRIEDERICHS, from Esens. His name and village location indicate he is from the Ostfriesland area. Katharina's family (Ricklef and Margeth (nee SCHIPPERS) emigrated on the sailing ship Albert, departing Bremen, arriving in New York on 02 July 1868. I cannot find Arjen and his family however..and am wondering if there were other ports that Ostfrieslanders emigrated from of if he and his family's records were in the Bremen papers which were destroyed. I have looked at quite a few name variations..without sucess...am about to begin researching the New Orleans Paseenger Lists..but thought that maybe someone on the list could comment.. Thanks..
